This week, Arbitra International and the Ministry of Justice UK's GREAT Legal Services campaign co-hosted a roundtable at the British Embassy in Copenhagen on the future of international dispute resolution.

From geopolitical uncertainty to what users value most, the discussion was wide-ranging, candid and forward-looking.

Last week, Arbitra International member Dr Crina Baltag, FCIArb delivered the Roebuck Lecture 2026, one of the most prestigious lectures in the international dispute resolution calendar.

Her lecture, Revisiting the Paradox of Trust: Disclosure and the Changing Dynamics of Impartiality in International Arbitration, explored one of the profession's most important and evolving topics - how transparency, disclosure and impartiality continue to shape confidence in the arbitral process.

We were proud to support the event alongside The IDRC and to celebrate the occasion with colleagues and friends from across the arbitration community.

At a time of growing political and public scrutiny, the conclusion is clear: arbitration must do more to explain its value, engage wider audiences and take a more proactive, collective approach to communications.

Anthony Lo Surdo accredited as AMDRAS leading mediator

We are pleased to announce that Arbitra International member Anthony Lo Surdo SC, FCIArb has been accredited as a Leading Mediator under the .Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards (AMDRAS) Board.

The AMDRAS framework superseded the National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS) on 1 July 2024 and introduced the Leading Mediator tier as the "gold standard" for the industry. This designation is reserved for practitioners who demonstrate not only extensive experience but also a proven track record of leadership and mentorship within the mediation community.

This accreditation follows a distinguished career in alternative dispute resolution. First accredited as a mediator in 1993, Anthony has conducted hundreds of complex, multi-party mediations across an array of industries and disciplines. He has been ranked by Doyle's Guide as a Leading Mediator in NSW every year since 2018. In addition to his AMDRAS status, Anthony is accredited by Resolution Institute - excellence in dispute resolution in Australia and Aotearoa as an Advanced Mediator and certified by IMI - International Mediation Institute and the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI). Whether presiding over high-stakes commercial disputes and other disputes or complex sports-related matters, Anthony’s elevation to Leading Mediator status reaffirms his commitment to facilitating fair, efficient, and enduring resolutions.
